Saturday afternoon footy heads down to Geelong, where the 5th-placed Cats will host the 6th-placed Kangaroos in what shapes as a critical encounter for both sides. Gary Ablett will be playing his 200th game for Geelong, and after his 37 disposal, 3 goal effort last round it would be safe to say the Little Master will be pumped for a big one. Standing in his way will be the blue collar North Melbourne midfield, who have defied all odds as they’ve led the Kangaroos to a record of 7-4 and we can expect a dour clash down at GMHBA Stadium.

Form
Geelong (WWLWW) – Their 85-point drubbbing of the Suns last round in the Gold Coast was essentially a training run. Ablett, Selwood, Duncan and Menegola did what they pleased (with the quartet all accumulating over 30 disposals), and their contested and tackling work was very impressive. It really does highlight what this team is capable of when they turn it on, and a tough Kangaroos side is the perfect chance to prove they can do it on a regular basis.

North Melbourne (WLWWW) – Three wins on the trot is one thing, but to do it with an average winning margin of 41 points is mighty impressive in what was supposed to be a ‘development’ year for North Melbourne. Shaun Higgins has finally fulfilled his sizeable potential and is having a career-best year (averaging 26 disposals, 4.7 clearances and 5.8 inside 50’s), and he has been ably supported by the ever-reliable Ben Cunnington- with both starring in the 54 point win over the Lions last round. They pair were just a step above.

– Both Joel Selwood and Patrick Dangerfield average over 110 Fantasy Points per game against the Roos

Betting Data

2018 Over-Under: Geelong- 2-9; North Melbourne- 3-8

What To Expect
The Wolf is expecting a very tight tussle in this game. Both sides have been incredibly stingy in defence this year, and whoever gets on top in contested possessions will go long way towards winning the game. If this match was at Etihad, the Kangaroos would be a lot more appealing, but Wolfie is expecting the Cats to be too good at home in a tight one.
