Gold Coast players with a fear of flying can finally rest easy this weekend, with the side staying put in the Sunshine state and heading to the Gabba to play a ‘home’ game against the Dees. The Suns were unlucky not to leave Ballarat with the win last round, eventually going down by 9 points in a tough match against the Dogs in which they were missing both co-captains. The Demons, on the other hand, have rebounded strongly after successive 40+ point losses, with strong wins over the Saints and the Bombers. Will Stewy Dew’s boys bring their pressure game against the Dees and force them into unwanted mistakes or will the Red and Blue beat true?

Gold Coast (LLWLL) – They were gallant, the Suns, but they just couldn’t quite get over the line against the Dogs in Ballarat last round- and it really seemed the only thing that cost them was just the extra touch of class the Dogs had. With their two co-captains missing the game, Dew will be pleased with the efforts of Witts, Miller and Thompson to fill the leadership void, while a number of promising youngsters stepped up and performed above expectations.

Melbourne (WLLWW) – After their disappointing fade-out in Round 5 against Richmond where they lost by 46 despite multiple passages in the game where they were on top, the Dees have really started to get their season back on track. While their wins have been against Essendon and St. Kilda, Simon Goodwin will be pleased with the way his defence has tightened up, while the forward line continues to look very threatening.

What To Expect
Just like the Lions v Pies last weekend, this does have a very hint whiff of an upset about it; though the Wolf will still be sticking with the Dees. The Suns will relish being back on ‘home’ soil, and should be rested enough to bring their A-grade pressure game here against Melbourne. The fact of the matter is, however, that the Demons should be good enough to cope with it, with the midfield of Oliver, Jones, Tyson and Hogan really coming to the fore in recent weeks. The spread (+22.5) for the Suns seems good value but the Wolf is sticking to Melbourne getting the chocolates over a gallant Gold Coast side.
