Prosecutors have withdrawn an indecent assault charge against Collingwood star Jordan De Goey, and taxpayers will also pay the footballer’s legal costs.

The 25-year-old was set to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today to fight the charge.
But just minutes into the contested hearing, his barrister revealed the case was no longer going ahead.
“This is a successful outcome for Mr De Goey,” lawyer Dermot Dann QC said.
Details of the alleged incident, which court documents claimed to have happened in 2015, are still unclear.
Mr Dann today asked the court to award $15,000 in legal costs to his client.
Lawyers for Mr De Goey’s co-accused, Jake Edginton, were also awarded $6,300 in costs.
Magistrate Timothy Bourke granted both applications, which were not opposed by prosecutors.
“In respect of both matters, charges have been struck out,” the magistrate said.
Last year Collingwood said the matter had been investigated by the AFL Integrity Unit and Victoria Police in 2018, and no charges were laid at that time.
